چکیده

Abstract Introduction: The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (S-ICD) represents a major advancement in ICD technology. Inappropriate shocks (IAS) occur more than 3.1% of the population with S-ICD each year and are usually followed by admission to emergency department (ED). In this setting, disabling IAS is mandatory during pseudo-electrical storm (ES). This report describes strategies that can be order temporarily inhibit critical care settings use magnets. Case presentation: An was implanted 6 weeks prior presentation 68-year-old man hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. ED, patient experienced 3 last hour. A Medtronic magnet applied stop IAS, as specific programmer not available. maneuver interrupted IAS. verify universal magnetic response S-ICD, six different magnets one smartphone MagSafe technology were tested. All models suspended arrhythmia detection while did cause interferences. Conclusions: demonstrates safety efficacy all clinical inhibiting case pseudo-ES, any type allows ED providers easily rapidly disable functionality devices when appropriate.

Safety and efficacy of a totally subcutaneous implantable-cardioverter defibrillator.

BACKGROUND The most frequent complications associated with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) involve the transvenous leads. A subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) has been developed as an alternative system. This study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of the S-ICD System (Cameron Health/Boston Scientific) for the treatment of life-threatening ventricula...

Subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.

or nearly 3 decades, the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) has been available to patients who survived life-threatening rapid heart rhythms or are at risk of experiencing them. The ICD comprises a device generator coupled with a defibrillation lead. Traditional ICDs are implanted under the skin with the generator positioned beneath the collar bone. The defibrilla-tion lead is inserte...

Safety, Efficacy and Evidence Base for Use of the Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator

The trans-venous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (TV-ICD) is effective in treating life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia and reduces mortality in high-risk patients. However, there are significant short- and long-term complications that are associated with intravascular leads. These shortcomings are mostly relevant in young patients with long life expectancy and low risk of death from ...

Inappropriate Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator Shocks

Results A total of 1,544 ICD patients (79% male, age 61 13 years) were included in the analysis. During the follow-up period of 41 18 months, 13% experienced 1 inappropriate shocks. The cumulative incidence steadily increased to 18% at 5-year follow-up. Independent predictors of the occurrence of inappropriate shocks included a history of atrial fibrillation (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.0, p 0.01) and...
